Petaloudes 1

THE VALLEY OF BUTTERFLIES (PETALOUDES 28km from Rhodes town) This valley is covered with pine and storax trees, which attract numerous brown-red butterflies (a moth of the panaxia quadripunctaria species) from mid-June until September. It’s an impressive natural beauty with narrow and stony walkways, lakes decorated with water-lilies, rustic bridges, running waters and resting places. A smell of resin and a wonderful feeling of peace accompany the visitors all the way to the top of the valley.

Kameiros 1

KAMIROS (37 km from Rhodes town) The smallest of the three ancient cities that were forming the Rhodian state is located on the west part of the island. More isolated and conservative than the commercial Lindos and the aristocratic Ialysos, it preserved its rural character throughout Antiquity. The remains of this city are a characteristic example of Hellenistic urban layout and architecture, with its division into zones for public and private buildings, its arrangement around the natural slopes of the hill and its chess-board system of streets.

Monolithos Kastro 1

MONOLITHOS CASTL (79 km from Rhodes town)

The village owes its name to a huge rock situated on top of a hill and on which a castle was built. Within the walls of this impregnable fortress you can find the churches of St Panteleimonas and St George with fine wall paintings.

Kalithea 1

KALLITHEA (10 km from Rhodes town)

Situated south of the village of Koskinou, a colorful and traditionally built village, lays Kallithea, formerly renowned for its thermal baths. The area is overflowed with wonderful gardens and its steep rocky creeks are ideal for diving.
